Bio: Hey, I’m Audrey! I’m your spirit leader and I’m super excited to have a great year. Last year I did Dramatic interpretation (DI) and Duo interpretation and went to state in DI. This is my second year doing speech and debate with Northtown and third year doing speech and debate including middle school. Speech and debate has really taught me a lot as person and it’s really great to be apart of the speech and debate family.
Goals: Qualify to state and nationals, Place consistently, Learn and grow a lot, Try out different events, Bring positivity to the team.

Officer Descriptions
President (Senior). The president shall act as the presiding officer of all speech and debate meetings; preside over special meetings; represent the organization on public occasions and assume other duties generally associated with this office, such as being a team leader and helping novice team members. As a squad captain, the President will be responsible for keeping the spirit of the squad up and work closely with the other officers to maintain the active participation of the team. The duties involve participating in the majority of tournaments, mentoring, and assisting younger members of the team, assisting the sponsors at tournaments, and to help maintain squad expectations. This person will work to help recruit new members and assist with any recruitment efforts at the middle school. As tournament chairperson, the President is responsible for the management and operation the speech and debate tournament hosted at North Kansas City High School. This person will work closely with the sponsor(s) on all tournament matters.
Vice President. The Vice President shall assume the duties of the president in case the president is absent or unable to preside; shall act as an assistant to the president and help as a squad leader. The Vice President shall assist with running the speech and debate tournament hosted at North Kansas City High School. The main responsibility is to coordinate all fund raising activities.
Secretary. The secretary shall record and publish the minutes of the meetings; shall be responsible for all correspondence of the speech and debate team; shall post notices of the meetings and keep record of awards won; shall keep point records of members throughout the year in cooperation with the sponsor and post them on the bulletin board. They will also keep track of student lettering sheets, labeling trophies for display, and getting certificates ready for the banquet.
Historian. The historian shall be responsible to record and to create an account of the yearly activities and events to be presented at the end of the year banquet. (This could be a scrapbook, slide presentation, video presentation, collage, etc.) This person should be the squad photographer and keep a board in the room of weekly/monthly events of the team and organization along with the Secretary. Update the team social media.
Spirit Leader- celebrates birthdays, encourages team members and bonding and brings a generally positive and uplifting presence to the team. Celebrates accomplishments of the team and works to set up Varsity and novice Big Brother/Big Sister pairings as well as team member of the month.
Officers should set an example for the team by turning in work, attending practices, competing in tournaments, mentoring younger competitors, having proper tournament etiquette. Officers will uphold the NKC handbook and NSDA Code of Honor. Any failure to fulfill duties may result in removal from office.
Officers must be in the class and MSHSAA eligible.
We may add reps or TAs.
